Insidious: The Red Door | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Jenny Nulf Austin Chronicle Similar to Wan’s The Conjuring universe, Insidious has long overstayed its welcome, reaching the point where its spark has quelled and there’s nothing interesting buried within these characters anymore. We have reached the end of the Further. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 17, 2023 Full Review Insidious: The Red Door | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times Lamentably, this unusual study of family trauma and memory loss gradually loses its shine and capacity to scare. [Full review in Spanish] Oct 5, 2023 Full Review Insidious: The Red Door | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Tomris Laffly TheWrap The new ‘Insidious’ chapter wearily fizzles despite some effective set-pieces and signature jump scares. Jul 15, 2023 Full Review Insidious: The Red Door | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Ankit Ojha Cinema Elite While the rate of scares still isn’t as consistent, it’s important to remember that “Insidious: The Red Door” is less your traditional horror fare than a tragic tale of the consequences of compartmentalizing trauma. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Insidious: The Red Door | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Rocco T. Thompson Daily Dead it’s all down to Wilson and Simpkins who bring a wealth of onscreen history together to a father/son story that culminates in a deceptively simple resolution that tugs mightily at the heartstrings. Yes, it’s a trauma movie, but it’s one of the good ones. Jul 3, 2024 Full Review Insidious: The Red Door | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Maxance Vincent InSession Film It still feels like a satisfying conclusion to a series of films that have continuously terrified us for over a decade. That alone is worth remembering. Rated: B- Mar 6, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

FAQs

Why did Insidious: The Red Door get bad reviews? ›

Insidious: The Red Door is a hot mess attempting to shoehorn in a plot between Father and Son. We get to waste time watching scenes while the Son is screwing around in college and going to frat parties. It completely misses what made the first three films great and feels like a flat and boring film.

What does The Red Door mean in Insidious? ›

The Red Door is the barrier between the Further and a place even further beyond the world of the living, where the most tormented souls exist.

Why does Dalton hate his dad Insidious? ›

The film, which was directed by Wilson (his directorial debut), marks a tonal shift in the Insidious universe.

However, it shouldn't be surprising that Insidious is doing well as the franchise is known for being a huge box office draw. When the original Insidious scared its way onto the scene in 2011 it made $100.1 million worldwide which opened The Further to more frighteningly good sequels.

What did Elise say at the end of Insidious Red Door? ›

When she snaps a photo of him, Josh goes berserk and strangles her. Renai discovers Elise's corpse and sees the photograph she took. What does "keep a steady stride" mean in Insidious: The Red Door? ›

Shaye explained: “It means wherever you are, keep your eyes forward and keep moving, and keep being aware of where you're going, because it won't be what you think. “That's a big thought to end the film with, so I'm very proud of that; that we discussed it, and Patrick loved the idea as well.

Why did Josh choke Elise in Insidious? ›

I have always loved the first Insidious and the second is equally as good in my book. If you didn't like the first, you won't like the second. It's just a great spooky, scary, haunted house, ghost, abandoned hospital story that is well-done and leaves you very satisfied at the end.

Is Insidious even good? ›

"Insidious" ultimately works because of Mr. Whannell's script, which manages to be inventive and unpredictable despite its paint-by-numbers formalism. Fresh score. A tale of intriguing situations that rise to the surface carefully and cautiously before they explode in a flashy series of stimulating resolutions.
